Environmental Handling Fees (commonly known as ‘EHF’ or ‘Eco Fees’) apply to certain products based on province. These fees are passed on from the region’s Recycling Agencies directly to the customer purchasing the product(s). Eco Fees are collected by two associations in Canada: Product Care and Paint Recycling Alberta. The Product Care Association is an environmental steward for categories such as Paints, Solvents, Light Bulbs, Smoke Alarms, and more in all provinces except Alberta. The Paint Recycling Alberta organization is focused on only the Alberta province and its paint recycling program. These associations collect the fees related to selected recyclables in each province. In an ever-changing world of policies and new initiatives, you may notice an environmental fee that was not incurred historically. Brafasco, Brock White and NCA continue to actively work with the various institutional needs and environmental regulations with transparency. Not all categories are applicable to every province.
